18 Free and Easy DIY Greenhouse Plans for Every Size and Budget. I’ve been gardening and growing fruits and vegetables for over 30 years. I started with a small garden area, growing the basics like tomatoes, peppers, corn and a couple other veggies, and have now worked my way up to 2 huge garden plots.

WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE A GREENHOUSE

But unfortunately I have to grow vegetables with store bought plants because I really have no place to start them by seed. And as you may guess – this has become really expensive and quite the quality guessing game. And this year, because of the pandemic, the majority of the good seeds and starts had been rifled through and taken. People now realize that if something big was to happen and their healthy foods were no longer shelved, they could at least rely on what they’ve grown themselves. But that’s a topic for another day – don’t want to get sidetracked here.

So a few years back the hubs and I made our own 6′ x 4′ hoop greenhouse, but with no real planning or much thought going into the project. We just used what we had laying around, staked the ground, bent some PVC and wrapped it in plastic. Which worked for a while. But we positioned it only a couple feet from a tree and once the winds picked up, twigs fell and popped holes in the plastic and I swore I saw it lift off the ground a couple times. So needless to say it’s now gone and I’ve been waiting for a new one.

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO START PLANNING YOUR GARDEN

Which brings me to this writing – DIY Greenhouse Plans for Every Size and Budget and how It’s Never Too Late to Start Planning Your Garden. I’ve been doing a lot of research – writing down and detailing every greenhouse that’s caught my eye, ones that look easy enough to make, how much they’ll cost, what kind of materials, how many man hours will be involved. And because I just couldn’t decide if I wanted a frame or a hoop, I’ve decided to make two – the 8’x10′ frame from the How to Specialist AND the 11’x15′ Hoop Greenhouse from Door Garden – both designs are shown below. They look pretty easy enough and it doesn’t look like they’ll cost me an arm and a leg either.

But I was thinking …. since I’ve already collected the information for the other ones, why not just list them here for you so you don’t have to spend time scouring the web – making it easier for you to pick one yourself. The prices ranging from under $200 all the way up to a couple grand (ouch). And just an FYI – I’m not even spending that much. But the lesson learned from a few years back is if I’m in this for the long haul, which I am – it’s best to do it right the first time around. Don’t make the same mistake we did.

I’m planning on doing this project myself and I’m no Bob the Builder. But heads up – if I can do it – so can you.
