Detox Smoothie with Apple and Pineapple. Detoxing is said to eliminate toxins from your body, improve health, and promote weight loss. As your body can eliminate toxins on its own through the liver, kidneys, digestive system, skin, and lungs – only when these organs are healthy can they effectively do their jobs to eliminate unwanted substances

Here’s where detoxing smoothies come in. Simply blend up one of these nutrient and antioxidant filled drinks and help your body boost the cleansing process. And they’re pretty darn tasty too 🙂


INGREDIENT BENEFITS

Lemon – are high in Vitamin C which aids the immune system, they help your body by flushing out toxins, help aid digestion, reduce inflammation, and cleanse the system
Pineapple – are rich in vitamin C and contains a protein digesting enzyme called bromelain. Bromelain works as a natural anti-inflammatory and is used by people who suffer from joint pain
Apple – have high amounts of pectin which is a fiber that attaches to heavy metals and cholesterol in the body and helps cleanse the intestines. Apples are popular in detox recipes because they are high in fiber and water and have been found to support weight loss
Ginger – ability to cleanse the body by stimulating digestion, circulation, and sweating. Its digestive actions may serve to cleanse the build-up of waste and toxins in the colon, liver, and other organs
Cucumber – a natural diuretic which helps the body flush toxins and water. They also help to fight inflammation and contain important vitamins like B Vitamins for stress and C Vitamins for antioxidants
Watercress – contains PEITC compounds that are responsible for converting the fat soluble toxins stored in your body into water soluble toxins that can then be expelled

Ingredients
Juice of 1 Lemon
1 c frozen Pineapple chunks
1 (½-inch) piece fresh Ginger, peeled and coarsely chopped
1 Cucumber, peeled and seeded
Pinch of Himalayan pink salt
1 c Watercress
1 crisp Apple, peeled and cored
1 cup Ice cubes
1 c cold Water
1 Tbsp Honey or other raw honey (optional)

Instructions
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add ice as desired
