day 2 of the love dare - love is kind

Day 2 – Love Is Kind

Day 2 Of The 40 Day Challenge – Love Is Kind

Kindness – Day 2 Of The Love Dare.  The Love Dare, a 40 Day Challenge To Strengthen Your Marriage, a 40 day action plan written by Stephen & Alex Kendrick, for improving marriage –  whether the marriage is healthy and strong or a marriage that’s in need of help.  And to help improve my marriage, I am taking this challenge AGAIN.  So follow along if you you dare.

Day 2: Love is Kind

IN ADDITION TO SAYING NOTHING NEGATIVE TO YOUR SPOUSE AGAIN TODAY, DO AT LEAST ONE UNEXPECTED GESTURE AS AN ACT OF KINDNESS

Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you ~ Ephesians 4:32

kindness

What today’s dare focuses on is how kindness is love in action. If patience is how love reacts in order to minimize a negative circumstance, kindness is how love acts to maximize a positive circumstance. One is preventative, while the other is proactive.

Love makes you kind and kindness makes you likeable, which is something we all want. It’s not easy being in a relationship where you obviously love your spouse, but don’t really like them, and visa versa.

There are four basic ingredients to kindness – and they are: initiative, gentleness, helpfulness and willingness.

Initiative – kindness thinks ahead and takes the first step, no requests required. The kind husband or wife will be the one who greets first, smiles first, serves first, and forgives first.

Gentleness – when you’re operating from kindness, you’re careful how you treat your spouse. You’re sensitive and tender.

Helpfulness – being kind means you meet the needs of the movement. Kindness graces a wife with the ability to serve her husband without worrying about her rights, and kindness makes a husband curious to discover what his wife needs then motivates him to be the one who steps up.

Willingness – kindness inspires you to be agreeable. Instead of being obstinate, reluctant, or stubborn, you cooperate and stay flexible. Rather than complaining or making excuses, you look for creative ways to accommodate and adjust. A kind husband ends thousands of potential arguments by his willingness to listen first than demand his way.

So there you have it. Go ahead and try an act of KINDNESS today – I dare you 🙂

If you missed any of the other days, check out the The Love Dare series here, where I’ll be going through the 40 days myself.
