3 Crispy Kale Chip RecipesSpicy Kale Chips, 21 Organic Seasoned Kale Chips, and Sesame Kale Chips, baked at 275 degrees – perfect chips every time.  Remember when Kale became the latest rave, the new superfood a few years back?  I of course jumped on it and grew the veggie myself.  A couple of plants here, a couple of plants there – the next thing you know I’ve got kale coming out of my ears. And by the middle of summer, I realized one cannot live on kale salads and smoothies alone – so I decided to try my hand at making Kale Chips. And holy moly, what a super cool idea that was.  That’s when I discovered these 3 Kale Chip recipes – Spicy Kale Chips, 21 Organic Seasoned Kale Chips, and Sesame Kale Chips – which are seriously the best.  Keep reading as the recipes are below.

But first a little info on Kale
As you may or may not know, kale is filled with many nutrients and vitamins. It’s a superfood that is loaded with:

  • Iron for good health
  • Antioxidants to protect against various cancers
  • Calcium to help maintain cartilage and joints
  • Vitamin A for your vision, as well as preventing lung and oral cancers
  • Vitamin C for your immune system
  • Vitamin K for bone health

Kale is also a great anti-inflammatory food, a great detox food, and it’s especially great for cardiovascular support. Whew, now that’s a mouthful. Perhaps that’s why they say KALE IS KING.

3 Crispy Kale Chip Recipes

So now back to the chips. I decided to make three different batches because we all seem to have our own preferences in my household: Spicy Kale Chips for my hubby, Sesame chips for my son, and 21 Organic Seasoned Chips for me. The sesame and 21 organic seasoned chips were extremely tasty and I probably could have eaten them all in one sitting. However, the spicy chips were just that – waaaay too spicy. But I will say … my husband absolutely loved them.

So here are the 3 Crispy Kale Chip Recipes – tweak as you see fit or keep them as is. Enjoy 🙂

SPICY KALE CHIPS

1/2 lb of Kale (washed and dried, with large stems removed and cut into 2-3 inch pieces)
2 tbsp olive oil
1/8 tsp sea salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1/3 tsp paprika
1/3 tsp ground cumin

Preheat your oven to 275 degrees. Mix all the spices together along with the oil.

One being the seasoning doesn’t stick well when you season after the chips are done baking; and two the salt actually helps to remove any water, which makes the chips more crispy.

Spread kale leaves in a single layer on baking sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes, then turn the leaves over and continue to roast for another 10 minutes. The leaves should be crisp and slightly golden.
