Top Smoothie To Relieve Constipation – another great smoothie to try.   Made with banana’s and oats, a prebiotic food that helps you combat constipation, along with jicama and Greek yogurt, a probiotics food which supports healthy bacteria in your gut.

So the question is:  why do people get constipated?  Constipation most commonly occurs when waste or stool moves too slowly through the digestive tract or cannot be eliminated effectively from the rectum, which may cause the stool to become hard and dry. Constipation can occur because of a poor diet (eating too much junk food can wreak havoc on your digestive health),  an inactive lifestyle (lack of exercise), changes in your normal routine (traveling), newly prescribed medication, and overall health conditions.

Make sure you call your doctor if you have severe pain, blood in your stools, or constipation that lasts longer than three weeks.

Smoothie To Relieve Constipation

Ingredients
6 oz Greek yogurt
1 medium banana
1/4 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup diced jicama
1/2 cup diced pineapple
1/2 cup almond milk
1 tbsp chopped ginger
1/2 cup ice

Directions
Add ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.  Enjoy 🙂
